The powerful and rich wore their lipstick to show their importance and assert their dominance. Red ochre was also used for cheek makeup. The Egyptians first separated the sand from the ochre. Then, the rest if the ochre is left to dry in the sun, so that the color would appear to be more vibrant. Then, the ochre would be mixed with water so that putting the ochre would be easier.
